My name is Marc Smith and I have been preaching the gospel here in Hewitt/Waco since 1991 and have been an evangelist since 1983. My wife Melodie and I have our home in Lorena, a rural village only six miles south of the meeting house in the suburb of Hewitt, and we are happy to call Central Texas our home.
My father, Truman Smith was a preacher of the gospel for 61 years and my brother Shawn Smith also preaches the word. I am a veteran of the USAF and went to college on the GI Bill, studying mostly in Houston for several years while working in industry and also here in Waco at McLennan College.
The work here has progressed through the years by the Lord’s help and the excellent support of the local members who have stood with me to “fight the good fight of faith.” We all continue to work here endeavoring to reach the lost of this area.
I preach gospel meetings in other areas of the and country when asked and very much enjoy that work. Since 2010 I have also preached and taught in India and Malaysia and have made many faithful friends and brethren in those places. Those works have focused on training preachers as well as preaching for congregations. When I am away, I can depend on the men of the church here to preach and teach in my absence. For their willingness and good work in that, I am very grateful.
